What is the BABYMETAL Wonderful Journey?

In July of 2017, the canadian radio station Radio Konton 90.5FM used a weather balloon to put a set of BABYMETAL Funko Pop figures into sub-orbital space (reaching a height of 33km~20.6mi).

Now, a group of fans from all over the world, members of r/BABYMETAL, are joining efforts to make them visit more than 60 cities in 20 countries, following the band's message of world unity and friendship. The package contains not only the Funko Pops, but also a journal book where each participant can write a message and a 'certificate of authenticity' provided by Radio Konton.

The name "Wonderful Journey" is taken from a song by Sakura Gakuin, the talented group where BABYMETAL was born.

Follow these Pop figures while they take pictures in beautiful and amazing places around the world, until they reach their final destination: the BABYMETAL members SU-METAL, YUIMETAL and MOAMETAL!

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Who are organizing the BABYMETAL Wonderful Journey?

A: The journey organizers are u/fearmongert, u/HTWingNutu/MoarMoau/samgreefsu/werm098 and u/sho-taBlue. If you have any questions, suggestions or comments about the journey or the Kitsune Network journey map, you can contact any of us.

Q: How long will this journey take?

A: We can't really approximate how much will it take; we have currently +60 participants, so considering one week on each city plus shipping times, it will take at least two years. It will be a looong journey, so we suggest to enjoy it and don't worry about it ending anytime soon :)

Q: Is this an official project? Is Amuse Inc. supporting it?

A: No, it is not an official project, and Amuse Inc. is not supporting it in any way. The BABYMETAL Wonderful Journey is organized completely by fans.

Q: Are the girls or someone from the band aware of this project?

A: Not that we know of. However, we often tag the official accounts in our social media posts so there is a chance that they have seen it.

Q: How can I become a participant?

A: The list of participants was closed on November 30th of 2017, right after the Pops started their journey. We estimate it will take around two years to visit everyone, so it is already a very long list.

However, the participants usually organize meet-ups in their cities to share a moment with the Funko Pops, so pay attention to the Journey and, if you are lucky, they come near you!

Q: What are the lyrics for 'From Dusk Till Dawn'?

A: Only the Fox God knows! ;)
